Max Mqadi is a well-known businessman from Umlazi, best recognized as the founder and owner of Max’s Lifestyle Village. Starting his entrepreneurial journey by selling goods such as aprons and apples on trains, Mqadi’s business acumen eventually led him to establish a small butchery in 1988, which later expanded into seven butcheries around Durban. He saw the potential in his Umlazi site and expanded the butchery to include a braai area, which became the foundation for Max’s Lifestyle[1].
